At an Under $3 restaurant, the McDouble works out to about $1.50 per beef patty, about half the cost per patty of a Double Cheeseburger ($3.10) or a Big Mac ($3.36).
All five burgers use the same 1.6-ounce regular patty, so price per patty is a fair way to compare them. The Big Mac adds a third bun piece and sauce; the Daily Double adds fresh vegetables and mayo.

McDonald’s created the McDouble in 2008 to keep a two-patty burger on the Dollar Menu after rising costs pushed the Double Cheeseburger above $1. Removing one slice of cheese let it hit the lower price.
