What Comes in a Happy Meal?
Every US Happy Meal has four food parts and a toy: the main, Kids Fries, a bag of apple slices and a kid’s drink. McNuggets Happy Meals also come with a dipping sauce.

Kids Fries are smaller than the small fries on the regular menu: 110 calories against 230. McDonald’s switched the Happy Meal to this size in 2018 to cut calories and sodium. Soda is no longer listed as a Happy Meal drink, though many restaurants will still serve one on request.

A Happy Meal has 395 to 475 calories with 1% milk. Choosing water drops it to 295 to 375, and reduced sugar chocolate milk raises it to 425 to 505. The drink is the easiest way to change the total.

The McNuggets Happy Meals cost about the same as the nuggets, apple slices and milk bought separately, because the nuggets themselves are cheap. With them, you are mainly getting the Kids Fries and the toy at little or no extra cost.
Happy Meal Allergens
Every Happy Meal contains wheat, from the bun or McNugget coating and the Kids Fries. The fries also contain milk, through the natural beef flavor, so no Happy Meal is milk-free even with juice or water.

Happy Meal Toys
Every Happy Meal includes a toy or a limited-time item. From October 20, 2026, participating US restaurants serve Happy Meals in Disney Villains Boo Buckets, Halloween pails featuring Ursula, Maleficent, Scar, Jafar and Cruella de Vil, each with a sticker sheet.
- Collections change often, usually every few weeks, and run while supplies last.
- You can’t always pick the design. Some restaurants let you choose; others hand out whatever is next in the box.
- Boo Buckets replace the usual toy, so the bucket is the collectible in this promotion.
- Ask for an age-appropriate toy if your child is under 3; many collections include a toddler-safe option.
When and How to Order a Happy Meal
Happy Meals are served on the lunch and dinner menu, from the end of breakfast until close. You can order one at the counter, drive-thru, kiosk, in the McDonald’s app or through delivery apps, and adults can order them too.
